Tornadoes Touch Down in Chicago Area
Multiple Tornadoes Confirmed, Damage Assessment Ongoing
The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that at least six tornadoes touched down in the Chicago area Monday night.
Tornado Paths and Damage
The NWS is investigating more than two dozen potential storm damage paths to determine the exact number of tornadoes. Two tornadoes were reported near Des Moines, Iowa, and another just outside O'Hare Airport.
The Weather Service also reported that a tornado touched down in an unspecified location. The NWS released a map highlighting areas where they suspect tornadoes may have touched down.
Ongoing Damage Assessment
NWS teams are out surveying damage in the affected areas. Tornadoes, along with dangerous straight-line winds and other hazards, rocked the Chicago area for the second night in a row on Monday.
